Growing Visionary Leadership to Address Infrastructure Needs Across the Southeast

Urban centers in the Southeast United States, like Miami, Atlanta, and Charlotte, are experiencing rapid population growth, driving demand for resilient, forward-thinking infrastructure. Florida’s transportation system, for example, must meet the pressures of high urban density, tourism traffic, major ports, and hurricane and flooding impacts. One way the state is working to combat these challenges is by investing in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and connected and automated vehicles (CAV) to enhance real-time traffic management and support safer, more efficient commutes. Public agencies across the Southeast are trending in this direction, supporting community growth by focusing on mobility, resilience, and technology improvements.

Building on our history supporting Southeast communities through transportation planning, design, and construction services, Consor has added visionary leadership to level up our local capabilities. Consor’s growth trajectory in the Southeast accelerated with our acquisition of American Consulting Professionals (American) in 2023. While Consor was already known in Florida for construction engineering and inspection, the addition of American expanded our transportation planning and design expertise, reinforcing Consor’s status as a full-service provider across the state. Florida Transportation Director Matt Deml, who joined Consor in June, is leading our team in meeting the state’s ambitious infrastructure goals. With 25 years of experience in transportation project management, design, and delivery, Matt’s leadership will drive professional development for our teammates, as well as our evolving service offerings.

Our growth also includes welcoming thought leader Raj Ponnaluri as Consor’s National Emerging Technologies Practice Lead. Raj, a recognized authority on traffic systems, ITS, and CAV, has helped shape some of Florida’s most advanced transportation systems. “Emerging technologies and systems hold incredible potential,” Raj shares. “Our goal is to harness these innovations, driving practical, data-driven solutions that enhance safety and mobility for all members of our community.” He is supported by another recent hire, Anu Weerasuriya, who brings expertise in traffic studies, planning, and design.

Rapid population growth has also put a strain on communities’ aging infrastructure, including our water and wastewater systems. To address these needs, Consor is focused on bringing the water planning and design services we’re known for into the Southeast. In Tennessee, we expanded our services under Andrew Howe, our new Water Practice Lead. Andrew’s nearly two decades of experience includes designing pump stations, distribution and collection systems, and treatment plants. Supporting successful delivery of projects is also essential to meeting growing demands, which is why we’ve also brought on Jennifer Stone to lead our construction services practice across the state. In her 25 years of experience, Jennifer has led large consultant teams and overseen construction contracts up to $200M.
